About the Role
Simacademy is building simulation-based training for pediatric emergency medicine. The library covers trauma, resuscitation, toxicology, and environmental emergencies, mapped to the ABP content outline. We need a working PEM physician to help build it out.
You will author new scenarios from scratch, edit and tighten cases already in the library, and run scenarios end to end to catch what does not work yet. Pacing, vitals trajectories, ambiguous decision points, teaching points that miss. You will also be one of the first physicians to use the authoring tool in earnest, and your feedback on the tool itself shapes how the product evolves.
This is hourly work. Set your own pace. We pay for the hours you put in.
Responsibilities
- Author new pediatric emergency medicine scenarios across trauma, resuscitation, toxicology, and environmental emergencies
- Edit and refine existing lessons for clinical accuracy, teaching point quality, and case flow
- Run scenarios end to end and report what feels off: pacing, ambiguity, vitals behavior, decision points
- Tie teaching points to current guidelines (PALS, ATLS, ABP content outline) and peer-reviewed literature
- Give direct, candid feedback on the authoring tool itself so the platform improves with use
- Work with the founder on which cases to build next and why
Requirements
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
- Active or recent clinical practice in a pediatric ED
- Comfort with simulation-based education (sim lab experience, PALS instructor, or fellowship-level teaching all count)
- Clear written communication. You can describe a clinical decision so another physician knows exactly what to do and why
Nice to Have
Prior curriculum or question-writing experience (ABP, PREP, MedStudy, fellowship-program internal banks). Interest in medical education as a longer-term track. Familiarity with structured authoring tools.
